Jason Robert Brown

Jason Robert Brown is one of the most influential modern composers working today. His musicals aren’t flashy—they are usually small, sometimes with only two cast members, and focus on small issues—dissolution of relationships, for example—rather than larger-than-life plot turns. His songs are simple and heartfelt. Brown has really changed the Broadway stage because his compositions are so relatable and small—he focuses on his characters before he focuses on how flashy he can make his stage productions.
